The first retrospective on Phyfe's work since 1922, this exhibition spans the American cabinetmaker's entire career. Phyfe (1768-1854) was born in Scotland and operated a business in Manhattan. On display are examples of Phyfe's furniture that range from his early work based on the designs of Thomas Sheraton, to his later adaptations of a plain Grecian style. His designs decorate the White House Green Room.
