TIPITINAS is 1 of the best things about N.O. Please bring groups like SONIC YOUTH,PIXIES,PAVEMENT,PLACEBO,etc.;MASSIVE ATTACK,FERMIN MUGARUZA,LAS PUNTAS,RUSSIAN RED,etc. As these are either groups from the '80's or groups from the Basqueland,Spain, etc.that have a small following but are brilliant. An all-female Spaniard punk rock/alt. group,Las Puntas is gr8.This would be gr8.Thanx,Genevieve-Antoinette
Description
Tipitina's New Orleans opened its doors on January 14, 1977 - the brainchild of a group of young music fans keen to provide a place for the much loved local performer, composer, and pianist Henry Roeland Byrd, (a.k.a. Professor Longhair) to play in his final years. As if that gesture alone wasn't enough, the fans further demonstrated their recognition and appreciation of Longhair's musical legacy by naming the venue after one of his most original recordings ('Tipitina'), and thus, Tipitina's New Orleans was born.

What began as a small, neighborhood bar has since grown into an International icon of the music world, as evidenced by additions to the Tipitina's schedule having included acts such as James Brown, Wilco, Pearl Jam, Tim McGraw and Nine Inch nails. However, it was a local talent that inspired the creation of this venue, and the Tipitina's schedule will forever remain loyal to that abundance of homegrown New Orleans talent; Dr. John, the Neville Brothers, the Radiators, Galactic, and Better Than Ezra are just a few of the homegrown acts to have graced the venue's stage over the years.

Tipitina's New Orleans is now an impressive two-story, 1,000 capacity venue offering resources which include a recording studio, record label, website, and vibrant special events department.
