Loyola University New Orleans menâs basketball team will renew their rivalry with next-door neighbor Tulane as the Wolfpack and Green Wave meet in the annual Battle of Freret Street Monday, Nov. 9, in Fogelman Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Festivities begin on the Loyola campus with a pep rally at 5 p.m. in the Res Quad, featuring the band Soulhaven. There will also be a caricature artist, button making and an appearance by Loyolaâs own mascot Havoc. At 6:45 p.m., fans will second line with the St. Ignatius Band leading the way to Fogelman Arena.
Alumni, faculty, staff, family and friends can purchase tickets for $10 by visiting http://alumni.loyno.edu/lutu09. Tickets include admission to the game, a spirit towel, Loyola mug and complimentary food and beverages at the tailgate party. As an added bonus, fans can redeem their ticket stub from the Loyola-Tulane game for free admission for the Wolfpackâs game with Brewton Parker in the The Den on Nov. 14.
Junior forward Ryan Brock leads the Wolfpack, coming off a 24-point effort in Loyolaâs season opener, a 111-54 victory over Carver Bible College last Friday. Senior guard Sean Bennett scored 21 points in the first half with seven three pointers. Loyola returns the entire squad from lastâs yearâs record-breaking campaign. The Wolfpack finished the season 19-11, the best record since the 1947-48 season, when Jack Orsleyâs club was 21-9.
