The Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country music radio program and concert broadcast live on WSM radio in Nashville, Tennessee, every Friday and Saturday night, as well as Tuesdays from March through December. It is the oldest continuous radio program in the United States, having been broadcast on WSM since October 5, 1925. Grand Ole Opry's most recent induction was received by Craig Morgan. Ryman Auditorium
The Ryman Auditorium originally opened in Nashville, Tennessee in 1892 under the name Union Gospel Tabernacle. The name of the venue was later changed to the Ryman Auditorium in honor of its founder Thomas G. Ryman. Since opening, the Ryman Auditorium Nashville has served the music community for over 100 years and has even become a National Historic Landmark. The Ryman Auditorium Nashville is probably most noted for its relationship with the Grand Ole Opry. Grand Ole Opry events occupied the Ryman Auditorium schedule from 1943 until 1974 when the operation moved venues. Through its former tenant, the Ryman Auditorium became hailed as the Mother Church of Country Music.Today, the Ryman Auditorium Nashville has become more than just an icon for country music. The current Ryman Auditorium schedule features grand performances from various music genres. Both legendary and contemporary artists like Sheryl Crow, Patsy Cline and James Brown have appeared on the Ryman Auditorium schedule.
