This is week four of a seven week series of Positive Discipline parent education classes. The agenda follows: - Warm up - Brief book discussion - Encouragement vs. praise: understand the subtle differences and decide for yourself which is more likely to foster high self-esteem - Punishment vs. discipline: what are the differences? and which is more effective? - Looking for solutions rather than blame - is this a paradigm shift? - Empower your children to be their best by avoiding enabling behaviors - Break - Parents Helping Parents Problem Solve - Appreciations/closing - Homework: Do two encouraging things; try a family meeting, for now just do compliments and planning an activity (see handout) - Recommended reading: Chapter 7, 8 and Family Meeting Handout
