Research Traps: 7 ways of thinking that keep you from doing great
customer research
Wendy Castleman
Research isn't easy... it takes thought and practice. This talk
will focus on common traps that we fall into when designing,
conducting and analyzing user research. These traps are ways of
thinking that get in our way and limit the impact of our
research. Come to the talk to learn what they are, when they
happen, and how to avoid them.
Wendy Castleman is a Principal User Research Scientist with
Intuit. She is a psychologist who has over eighteen years of
research and teaching experience in the area of human cognition
and user research. She is an advocate of design thinking and has
developed robust processes and produced substantial increases in
product usability in both large and small technology companies.
Wendy previously worked as a user researcher at Remedy Software,
Peregrine Systems, Motorola, Certive, Lucent and Philips Consumer
Communications. She received her Ph.D. in Cognitive and
Perceptual Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
