Audiences and musicians alike hail the innovative and moving musical collaborations of Laura and Rio. Individually, these artists have a distinct sound, but together they have created a signature style, drawn from an extensive repertoire of American jazz and popular songs. Combining dynamic technique and creative arrangements, Laura and Rio are pleasing sophisticated audiences all around the tri-state area. They have appeared together at a variety of venues and private functions, and the Joey Reynolds Show on WOR Radio. They look forward to recording their first CD together in the coming year.
*** Laura Hull is a vocalist who combines distinctive interpretation and improvisation resulting in her unique sound. Laura began her career as an adolescent at the resorts of upstate New York's fabled Catskill Mountains, where she practiced her craft performing with numerous bands and learned to sing in a variety of genres and styles. She later worked a session singer for a major recording studio, jingle singer for several agencies, and showcased her singing at clubs in and around New York City. She has been called, “a first class vocalist” and “vocally enchanting.” Laura has served as producer and host of several vocal series and has institutionalized a number of live music programs at venues around New Jersey. In 2006, she executive produced and released “Hullabaloo,” her debut CD of original music under her Hullarious Records label, which garnered several songwriting awards and radio play around the U.S. Her music is licensed and heard in both domestic and international markets. Her recent appearances include Trumpets Jazz, Hofstra University, Bickford Theatre, and Deer Head Inn. She appears around the tri-state area with her jazz ensemble and is currently at work on her new CD.
Rio Clemente is a master pianist that mixes a strong classical background with a rich knowledge of jazz history, and then adds an amazing sense of creativity and interpretation. The result is music that is different and truly unique. His career began with a BMI scholarship for musical theatre and subsequent studies at Julliard School of Music. He has entertained audiences around the world. Rio has published eight CDs under his own Etnemelc Music Productions label. As a composer, he has written a number of selections ranging from gospel to Latin, including several orchestral arrangements. In collaboration with lyricist and author, Carmine Lombardo, Rio has composed the music for three musicals, including the just published family musical, “Dobdinob.” As an educator, he has served as musical director for and presented customized programs in schools. Rio’s recent appearances include Trumpets Jazz, Birdand, Deer Head Inn, and Mayo Center for the Arts. ***I would love to see more live music opportunities in the Morristown area, specifically LauRio Jazz. Laura and Rio are terrific performers and I'd love to hear them perform and talk about how they got together, what inspires them individually and together as a team, and what lies in their future as an act.
