Description
James Madison's Montpelier
11407 Constitution Highway
Montpelier Station, VA 22957

Free admission on Veterans Day for those who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces of the United States.

Visitors from around the world once traveled to Montpelier to meet with James Madison, Father of the Constitution and fourth President, and to enjoy the legendary hospitality of his beloved wife Dolley, whose style inspired the term "First Lady".

Other features of Montpelier's 2,650-acre estate include an unhurried tour of the ongoing restoration of James & Dolley Madison's historic home; exhibitions of elegant furnishings; hands-on fun for kids; active archaeological excavations; 2 miles of hiking trails through the 200-acre old-growth forest; Madison family & slave cemeteries; museum shop, cafe, the duPont Gallery, and breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain vistas. Four miles SW of Orange on Rt 20.
