The Alabama Department of Archives and History celebrates the "Year of Alabama History" through its third-Thursday lecture series which presents a year-long overview of Alabama History. Hardy Jackson, Jacksonville State University, presents "Modern Alabama." This program is sponsored in-part by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, a non-profit organization, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
