Description
In an effort to improve Bayou DeSiard and Black Bayou Lake, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries have developed recommendations for a drawdown of the two bodies of water. The effort is primarily designed to reduce excessive aquatic vegetation. During the period of 9/1 and 12/31 of 2009 the goal is to have the water level of both water bodies at a level lower than normal (pool) stage. This will improve fish spawning habitat, improve water quality and an opportunity to property owners for shoreline repairs and maintenance.
