Description

Phone: 414.940.8770
Location: Bader Hall, Wis. Conservatory of Music (1584 N. Prospect Ave.)
Details:
Frank Almond, Frankly Music artistic director and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, will team with pianist Jeffrey Sykes to trace the provenance of his famous "Lipinski" Stradivarius violin, starting with its first owner Giuseppe Tartini; connections with monumental composers such as Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn and Brahms; and finally reaching its current home in Milwaukee. The program will include Tartini's Sonata in g "Devil“s Trill," and Schumann's Sonata in d, Op. 121. Time / date: 7 p.m. Monday, March 23. Location: Bader Hall, Wis. Conservatory of Music (1584 N. Prospect Ave.). To buy tickets: visit www.franklymusic.org. Led by Frank Almond, the Frankly Music series gathers world-class artists playing in unique and intimate venues, making visitors more a part of the experience rather than just another audience member. Its audience-friendly format combines sophisticated but accessible discussions of the music and ideas followed by a first-rate performance and post-concert reception to meet and mingle with the musicians.
