Description
Description:
This event will run from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m., with a reception from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
The goal of this Forward Thinking event is to celebrate and encourage faculty research that involves students, including research in the humanities; behavioral and cognitive sciences; social and economic sciences; engineering; computer and information sciences; education; math and physical sciences; medical and health sciences; nursing; business; law; biological and biomedical sciences; and interdisciplinary research. The specific objectives are to:
* Showcase prospective faculty research projects and the ways in which faculty involve students in their work.
* Provide opportunities for researchers to interact with peers in other disciplines, form interdisciplinary partnerships, and plan new projects.
* Encourage development of research and professional skills for undergraduate and graduate students (e.g., planning research projects, preparing presentations and posters, presenting research to a diverse audience of faculty and student peers).
This event is very different from traditional conferences where presentations are used to convey the results of work that has been completed. All presentations featured here focus on projects that will take place in the next 12 months. The projects being presented may still be in the planning phase. Indeed, these are all very exciting new endeavors and all are welcome to view the exciting research that is being conducted at Marquette.
Presentation guidelines can be found at http://www.marquette.edu/orsp/announcements/2008Event.shtml
