here we go... since 2 members mentioned this book, let's start with "bright-sided: how the relentless promotion of positive thinking has undermined america" by barbara ehrenreich. might be extra interesting to be reading this during the holiday season:) here's an article from the new york times that tells you what the book's about: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/10/books/excerpt-bright-sided.html?_r=1. you can order it online for about $13. so this only gives you about a month to order and read it, but if you don't get the chance to read it before our first meet-up, then come to the meeting anyway because we'll discuss our future book list and just hang out and get to know each other, and you can bring a couple of thoughts from whatever book you're currently reading. for february meetup, we can continue our discussion of this book if needed, but i'm going ahead and additionally listing the book "everything is illuminated" by jonathan safran foer so we all have enough advance time to buy and read it (see february meetup for details about this book).
