Total Distance:5.9 Miles Elevation Gain:1350' Difficulty Level:Moderate Amount of time:4 1/2 Hours Hike Description: North Pack Monadnock (2276') is located in Peterborough and Greenfield at the end of the Wapack Trail. We will be hiking up Ted's Trail which passes through forests of red pine and by some small waterfalls. We will then join the Cliff Trail and hike to an open area which offers a 180-degree panorama-the best view on the mountain. From there we will climb to the summit of North Pack. We will take a break at the summit to enjoy the views, and then decend via Carolyn's Trail, an easier grade for the decent, which passes through a beautiful spruce forest. Carpool Info: Meet at the Exit 2 Park & Ride off of Rt. 93, 8:am DirectionsFrom the East: Take Rt. 101 over the top of Temple Mountain. Pass the entrance to Miller State Park and bear right onto E. Mountain Road for 3.4 miles. Turn right onto Sand Hill Road and follow for approx. 2.2 miles (Sand Hill Road becomes Old Mountain Road at the Greenfield Town line). The signed trailhead and small pullout are both located on the right side of the road.
