Mount Hedgehog (Beginner Level 3)

This hike has been rescheduled from January 2nd due to weather. The UNH/Mount Hedgehog trail leaves from the Downes Brook parking area just east of Passaconaway Campground and 13.5 miles west of Conway on the Kancamagus Highway. The trail takes you to the summit of Mt. Hedgehog (2520'). The grade is moderate and only the final sections require a little extra effort. The advantage in taking the loop in a clockwise direction is to view the Presidential Range and Mt.Washington as you reach the summit from the south. You must be prepared for winter conditions with traction devices such as Microspikes and possibly snowshoes if there is fresh snow. Knowledge of proper dress and gear for winter conditions is essential. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
