Seacoast (NH) Sustainabillity Summit w/focus on vegan food & nutrition

There are 3 tracks running simultaneously in this conference, and each track will have 3 presentations. Track 1 is Food Focus, and includes the following presentations: 10:30-12:00 Powerpoint, "An Inconvenient Food: The Link Between Animal Agriculture, Environmental Degradation and Global Warming" 1:00-2:30 Panel on Healthy Options for School Lunches. Facilitator and panelist Harvey Zarren, M.D. will show the 12-minute film, "Healthy Nutrition: Appleton, WI". Other panelists include Pat Laska, nutrition director for Portsmouth Public School System; Stacey Purslow, state coordinator for Farm-to-School Program; and Kathryn Strong, R.D., Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. 2:45-4:00 Vegan Nutrition presented by Kathryn Strong. A vegan lunch will be served (thanks to the support of Vegfund!) from 12:00-1:00. If you'd like to volunteer, please contact Louisa at (603) 729-0248. I need help with cooking, setting up, serving, distributing literature taking photos, and cleaning up. All volunteers get a free vegan T-shirt. The opening address is by Tom Kelly, director of the Office of Sustainability at UNH. The other two tracks are: Town Activities/State Planning, and Faith Communities. This event is free and open to the public.
