Description
Daily, 8-8. Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The walk is mostly on sidewalks. Stroll beside Bear Creek through Applegate Park. The creek connects with the Merced River flowing out of Yosemite Park. Visit the grand Merced Courthouse, built in 1875, modeled after the State Capitol. The Courthouse includes a lovely museum, open 1-4PM Wed thru Sun. Veteran's Memorial Park and monuments surround the Courthouse. Walk through the past as this walk covers many 19th Century historic houses and buildings throughout quaint, old downtown. Several buildings have been included on the National Historic Registry. Visit the restored Railway Station as well as view the many old mansions along the historic tour. The old houses have been built from redwood hauled down from the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains.
