Startup SIG: Jeff Clavier, SoftTech VC, leading Web 2.0 angel investor

Jean-Francois “Jeff” Clavier is the Founder and Managing Partner of SoftTech VC, one of the most active seed stage investors in Web 2.0 startups. In 2007, Jeff was recognized as one of the 13 “Web 2.0 King Makers” by Business 2.0.

Since 2004, Jeff has invested in more than 20 consumer Internet companies, including:
Truveo (sold to AOL), Kaboodle (sold to Hearst Interactive), Dogster, Mint, RapLeaf, Socializr, MyBlogLog (sold to Yahoo), Userplane (sold to AOL), Buzznet, Netvibes, UStream, BrightRoll, Mashery, Satisfaction, OmniDrive, Feedster, Wikio, Maya’s Mom (sold to J&J’s BabyCenter), Edgeio, Loomia, Three Rings, Grouply, Active Athlete Media and SocialMedia.com.

SoftTech VC's latest fund is a $12M seed fund, aimed at investing in 30 to 40 companies over the next 2-3 years.

We'll ask Jeff what he looks for in a startup, when deciding whether to invest, and also how he evaluates a company's progress post-investment.
