Description
Learn the story of African Americans as they moved from slavery to freedom, from plantation to city. View lives of 19th Century African Americans through the lens of historical archaelolgy and see how artifacts and research are interpreted. Undergorund Memphis draws on research and excavations at the slave quarters at a small plantation named Hilderbrand House, and from the Beale Street area, where former slaves congregated after the Civil War.
