Hisense Arena Melbourne (formerly the Melbourne Multi Purpose Venue) opened in 2000, a multi-purpose sports venue which functions as part of the Melbourne Park complex. A state-of-the-art facility, the Hisense Arena Melbourne is the ideal facility for a variety of events. Everything from the sporting events for which it was primarily designed, to concerts and comedy galas; all have featured and continue to feature on the Hisense Arena schedule.

In addition to hosting numerous events during the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the Hisense Arena Melbourne is perhaps most widely recognized as being the location for the annual Australian Open Tennis Championships.
