UPCYCLED at Royal Exhibition Building
Australia’s leading showcase for emerging designers Design:Made:Trade 2010 presents UpCycled – the next generation of ENJO products led by Monash University’s designers of tomorrow.
In the spirit of Cradle to Cradle manufacturing, students from Monash University’s second year design studio were challenged to explore the potential evolution of used ENJO cleaning products and utilize these discoveries to design new consumer products. In 2010 the Design:Made:Trade theme is Eco-Design and Design for Sustainability. The exhibitors at this innovative trade fair will explore modular, reusable, adaptable and long-life products that replace or extend the functions of today’s disposable consumer goods.
Design:Made:Trade will showcase Australia’s unique design culture and feature small design brands, design manufacturers, product designers and design makers.
The diverse and inspiring trade exhibition boasts more than sixty 3x3 metre VISY cardboard booth s, exhibiting some of Australia’s leading furniture, fashion and industrial design brands.
The top ten UpCycled creations, which range from Diving Flippers to Personal Door Locks, will be on display at Melbourne’s Historic Royal Exhibition Building.
The exhibition will be opened on Wednesday 14 July by the Victorian Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Innovation, Gavin Jennings. As a passionate advocate for the environment and sustainable living, ENJO Managing Director Barb de Corti, said she was excited to partner with the innovative team at Monash University. “UpCycled was a fantastic opportunity to encourage our designers of the future to address the need for recycling and develop innovative methods to reuse ENJO products,” Barb said.
The winner of UpCycled will be rewarded with a cash prize of $500. The runner up will receive a $200 cash prize and third place in the design competition will receive $100.
