Twilight bike ride to look for fairy penguins at St Kilda

Now day-light saving is upon us IÂÂ'm scheduling a few Twilight bike ride during the week. Starting around 6pm (IÂÂ'd have trouble getting away from work earlier, as IÂÂ'm sure many others would too). For about 1½ ~ 2 hours (20km) and starting from Federation Square. IÂÂ'd envisage a circuit of some sort, ending back where we start. This ride will be down to St Kilda Pier to look for the fairy penguins that come in at dust. From Federation Square we head west along Flinders walk, cross Yarra at pedestrian/bike bridge, along the Lormimer St footpath until it becomes a bike path (Hartley Street). Then down Todd Street, past Westgate Park to the Bay. Then its along the Bayside bike path, passing the Spirit of Tasmaina (which departs at 8pm) and along bike path to St Kilda Pier. A number of fairy penguins (few dozen to a couple of hundred) are purported to come in around dust. It'll be dark when we head home, so you'll need working bike lights. We'll go around Albert Park Lake and up St Kilda Road (along foot paths). We should be back at Fed Square around 9pm, maybe a bit later if we loiter about the penguins. Plan B if folk don't have working bike lights will be similar but skipping the penguins and getting back about 8pm. We'll decide which ride depending of the view of those who turn up.
