Description
Manzanita Meander - Daily, dawn to dusk. The 5km route rated 1+ for a moderate hill meanders through a pleasant, quaint residential area, the city park, passes a fire station and the golf course. The 10km is rated 2 for a couple of moderate hills, sand and dirt paths. About 1 km on the beach, but alternate route is available. Meander through town on sidewalks, streets, hidden paths and walkways. Passes fire station, golf course, goes through the city park and residential areas, passes a beaver pond, a duck pond, a water tower, the library and small shops and eateries. Enjoy ocean, mountain and wetland views of this quiet coastal town nestled beneath Neahkahnie Mountain. Lisa Jackson, NY Times best selling author of mystery romance, lives here. Manzanita is in Tillamook County, named for the Tillamook Indian tribe. Pets allowed on walk if leashed and picked up after, but not in the registration area. No water or restrooms at the registration point, but are available at walk start point. An alternate 10k route at nearby Nehalem Bay State Park is offered for those desiring a non-urban walk experience. Driving directions to state park are at the registration point.
