The O2 Apollo Manchester was built in 1938 and originally operated as a cinema and variety hall. It continued as such up until the 70s, when the emphasis shifted to the musical performances taking place as part of the variety hall programming.
Known for a long time simply as The Manchester Apollo, it was officially renamed The O2 Apollo Manchester in 2010.
The O2 Apollo Manchester has played host to some of the biggest names in music over the years with the likes of The Beatles, U2, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Rage Against the Machine and local band Oasis all having featured on The O2 Apollo Manchester schedule at one time or another.
The O2 Apollo Manchester is art deco in style, and a grade II listed building with a capacity of 3,500.
