All proceeds from this event go to Tenteleni (www.tenteleni.org.uk). They've been sending student volunteers from the UK out to primary schools in various African countries for 8 years. The students work as teaching assistants and mainly teach english and HIV/AIDS awareness. The emphasis is on cross-cultural learning rather than trying to impose any particular world-views. There are 20 students going from Manchester and this gig is to raise money to cover their basic expenses.

Tenteleni is a volunteer based charity that assists in the provision of educational opportunities for vulnerable children in Sub-Saharan Africa encouraging them to fulfil their potential. Volunteers, recruited from British universities, work alongside teachers and carers in communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, building lasting relationships and sharing skills and ideas in order to enhance the educational experiences of the children. In 2007 more than 100 Tenteleni volunteers will be working on 7 projects in 5 countries, supporting the work of 100s of teachers and carers and touching the lives of 1000s of children.
