Journey to the Amazon Rainforest

Join us for a whirlwind weekend adventure deep in the Amazon Rainforest. We will fly to Lima, Peru Thursday evening after work, arriving in the country Friday morning. From there we will take a regional airline to our base jungle stop in Iquitos where we will be met by our guides who will escort us down the Amazon river by boat to our jungle lodge. Our lodge will be our home base during our MLK holiday weekend stay, from which we we journey with guides on short day trip adventures into the rainforest for wildlife viewing, nature walks, and other activities. We will also have a canopy excursion, where we will walk across the rainforest at the canopy level (in the trees) along the famous jungle canopy suspension bridge. We will return home on an evening flight Monday night, arriving back into the DC area Tuesday morning by noon. For work purposes if you work a regular 9-5 shift plan to take Friday off and a half day Tuesday. Monday is a federal holiday so most will already have that day off. For this trip think rustic. Now close your eyes and think waaaaaaaaaay more rustic than that. No electricity after dark rustic. No internet rustic. Bring your malaria pills and DEET spray rustic. Anaconda rustic. JUNGLE RUSTIC!!! The cuisine will be fantastic- jungle specialties served up by local residents. The sights will be amazing. The memories will be unforgettable. Trip fee includes r/t airfare from washington DC metro area to/from Lima, r/t airfare from Lima to/from Iquitos, boat transportation from Iquitos to/from lodge, accommodations at the Jungle lodge for 3 nights, 3 meals daily Friday-Monday and guided adventure tours. Trip fee is payable in 2 non-refundable installments. First installment of $400 is due at the time you rsvp. Second installment of remaining balance is due on or before September 1, 2009.
