Description
Using 'esperpento' theatre, Valle-Inclán describes the fashionable wanderings of a blind poet, Max Estrella, and his Latin guide, as well as the other nocturnal characters that infest the most squalid aspects of Madrid. During the night the two wanderers meet all the Madrid underclass: criminals, policemen, journalists; in short, a complete microcosm of society at that time that is not so different from current society.
