Backpacking the Brooks Range, Alaska

The Brooks Range is in the northern most mountain range in North America.  Between Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, there are 16 million acres of wilderness open for exploring.  We will walk through reasons to backpack in the Brooks Range, special equipment needed, area highlights and pictures and stories from a 45-day trip last summer.
 
Jay Creagh: Wilderness Program Director at Camp Manito-wish YMCA.  Trip leader and director at an organization that sends out three to 45-day trips all across North America. This past summer they sent three groups to the Brooks Range for 45 days.
 
Ryan Wagner: Wilderness Trip Leader and engineering student at the University of Wisconsin.  Ryan spent last summer leading a group of teenagers for 45 days through the Brooks Range with Camp Manito-wish YMCA.
