Late September is the peak of hawk migration and bird watching is Americas fastest growing wildlife related recreational activity. You can bird watch anytime you are outdoors, walking, paddling, x-country skiing, biking, running a marathon, or even going to the grocery store. From the Atlantic Ocean to the Appalachian Plateau, during the course of a year, over 350 species of birds can be observed in Maryland. Join wildlife ecologist and REI staff member Dave Brinker to learn the basics of bird watching as he shares his passion for birds. He will cover the basics of using field guides and what to look for when choosing binoculars. Dave will introduce the many resources available to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of the region?s bird life. Join other outdoor enthusiasts at REI to learn more about this fast growing sport and how to increase your enjoyment the regions abundant bird life!
