Connecting the Spiritual and Material Worlds, a workshop with Sobonfu Some'
Henry Clay Building 604 South Third Street

Join Sobonfu Some', gifted teacher and author, for a powerful experience of discovery. Some' was born into the Dagara Tribe in the African country of Burkina Faso, formerly known as Upper Volta, located south of the Sahara Desert in north-western Africa. Even before her birth, tribal elders foresaw her destiny and she was trained from infancy to teach their ancient wisdoms, rituals and practices.

Some' uses story, music, dance and experiential rituals to guide participants in a journey to connect spirit and community, and to more fully align with our deep, most authentic selves. Come prepared to move, laugh and sing as Some' weaves a ceremony of true connection and spirit through ritual drumming, song and dance.

Sobonfu Some' tours the United States, Asia and Europe giving lectures and leading workshops. She is one of the foremost voices of African spirituality to visit the West, bringing insights and healing gifts from her culture.
My work is really a journey in self-discovery and in building community through rituals, says Some'. It is always challenging to bring the spiritual into the material world, but it is one of the only ways we can put people back in touch with the earth and their inner values.

Some' also founded Wisdom Spring, Inc., an organization dedicated to the preservation and sharing of indigenous wisdom through education and fundraising for wells, schools and health projects in Africa. Her books includes: The Spirit of Intimacy: Ancient Teachings in the Ways of Relationships; Welcoming Spirit Home: Ancient Teachings to Celebrate Children and Community; and Falling out of Grace: Meditations on Loss, Healing and Wisdom.
