Conquer Stress During a Job Search

This workshop is tailored for those who are in transition and
looking for new job opportunities. Life changes, such as changing
jobs or careers create greater than normal stress. This workshop
is designed to help participants lighten up and give them tools
to deal effectively with the extraordinary stress of life
changes. The objectives are to:

- Build self awareness of what and why triggers a stress response
- Stop worry from taking over
- Learn simple techniques to respond in a proactive manner

The workshop is highly interactive and gives the participants
direct experience with the tools under the supervision of the
instructor.

Karen Mathews has presented similar information to UC Santa Cruz,
Stanford staff, City of San Jose, and others. Because of the
popularity of this workshop, Karen published a book/CD set
entitled Conquer Stress NOW!

About the Speaker

Karen Mathews turned her talent for solving problems and
diffusing conflict into a consulting practice to enable every
person on complex teams to deliver on results and achieve peak
performance. Karen founded Real Change Experts in 2004. Her
twenty-nine years in Quality management at aerospace and telecom
companies provided deep understanding in resolving team challenges.

Karen is an Executive Board member of the Leadership
Association---Santa Clara Valley and is on the Advisory Board of
Benchmark Environmental Engineering Company. She is an active
volunteer with the Women's Initiative providing mentoring and
consulting services to their clients.

Karen has an M.A. degree in Organizational Psychology from John
F. Kennedy University and a B.S. degree in Business Management
from University of Phoenix.

Career Connections is a job support group that meets at Calvary
Church in Los Gatos on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm. About
30-45 people usually attend, but the mailing list has about 300.
The group is focused on providing tools, techniques, ideas, and
networking to aid participants searching for new jobs. The group
first started about ten years ago, but stopped in 2002/2003. In
Feb 2009, we restarted the group, due to the state of the economy
in the valley, and also prompted by several of us being laid off
at about the same time in December, 2009.
