Royce Hall

Rich with history, Royce Hall on the UCLA campus has remained one of the leading concerts halls in the Los Angeles area. The iconic building is the regular home of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and regularly schedules performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In addition to the performing arts, Royce Hall also features performances by contemporary musicians, including mainstream acts, jazz legends, and guitar greats. Built in 1929, Royce Hall was one of the first buildings constructed on the UCLA campus, and its exterior was inspired by the old Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan. The interior is similarly spectacular, with an Italian Romanesque style featuring golden accents, coffered ceilings, high arches, and a bold proscenium. Royce Hall's performing arts schedule began with a bang in the late 1930s, featuring scheduled musicians like Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and Ella Fitzgerald. Speakers like John F. Kennedy and Albert Einstein later spoke in the hall, adding to the venue's prestigious reputation.
