The USC Hillel Art Gallery presents its fifth annual student exhibition — this year honoring Stanley and Elyse Grinstein and their influence on art in Los Angeles.
Known for their professional innovation and personal patronage, the Grinsteins’ have been prominent figures in the L.A. art world since the early 1960s. This exhibition provides a tremendous opportunity to acknowledge their longstanding contributions. In 1966 Stanley Grinstein co-founded Gemini G.E.L., an artists’ workshop and publisher of limited edition prints and sculptures. In 1990, Elyse Grinstein’s architectural firm, Grinstein/Daniels, designed and built the famous KFC building in Koreatown.
This show is especially important, given the critical attention now directed toward L.A. art through The Getty initiative “Pacific Standard Time.”
