Greetings Adventure, Animation, Family and Fantasy Fanatics Join Maria AKA BustAGroove for a holiday-inspired screening of "The Princess and The Frog". This will be the first 2D traditional animated film since 2004's Home on the Range. From the creators of "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" comes a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana. "The Princess and the Frog" marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements, with music by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman ("Monsters, Inc.," "Cars," "Toy Story"). Cast: Anika Noni Rose, John Goodman, Keith David, Jim Cummings, Jenifer Lewis Trivia: There was some controversy when the name of the heroine of the movie (who is of African American heritage) was announced as Maddy. The character's name was perceived by some as to be a stereotypical, lower-class, "slave name", and the character was also a maid working for a rich white person, which received complaints as being racially insensitive. A Disney spokeswoman stated that some of the original release information was incorrect . . ., "Princess Tiana will be a heroine in the great tradition of Disney’s rich animated fairy tale legacy, and all other characters and aspects of the story will be treated with the greatest respect and sensitivity."
