Chinese New Year Festival - Year of the Snake

Join thousands of Angelenos in celebrating The Year of the Snake during the Chinese New Year Festival held in LA Chinatown, Feb. 16 & 17, 2013. This free annual event is one of the largest of its kind in the country will be filled with exciting activities for all ages: Experience the 114th Annual Golden Dragon Parade and marvel at spectacular floats, decked-out cars, dancers and bands as they parade down the heart of Chinatown. This year's Grand Marshals includes Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck; participate in breaking the world record for paper folding to create a large snake sculpture; listen to live music while enjoying local beers from the craft beer garden curated by Eagle Rock Brewery; take in one or several cultural workshops; watch cultural acts from Chinese performers; shop at the LA Craft Experience artist market and at local Chinatown merchants; and nosh on treats from a gourmet food trucks and nearby Chinatown restaurants.

Event location: Central Plaza at 943-951 N. Broadway on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 12-8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 17 from 12-5 p.m. The 114th Annual Golden Dragon Parade is on Saturday, Feb. 16 beginning at 1 p.m.
