HO! HO! HO! HARM REDUCTION GIFT EXCHANGE! I hope we have all figured out a working definition of harm reduction and how it plays out for sex workers, drug users, ourselves and others. In light of the theme from the recent Miami conference, we will be having our FIRST EVER *Harm Reduction* Gift Xchange. *Bring a gift for someone worth around $5.00 that would help someone reduce harm in their lives. This person can either keep it or pass it on to someone else. If you don't know what to bring or make, send an email out to the group and we'll help you brainstorm. As long as you can justify it as harm reduction, it counts. I will have TONS of FREE condoms and lube to give for all of you who donate $10-50 to the December 17th alter so pick something else to bring! You can type up a know your rights guidebook, buy something at the local store, wrap up something in pretty new condition from your house...dental floss, saran wrap, sunglasses could all be harm reduction tools! DECEMBER 17TH is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. SWOP-LA is building a memorial for all the victims that have been killed by the Grim Reaper serial killer and installing it on the Figueroa track that most of the women he murdered worked. There is a national march in Washington DC this year as well. I think building the memorial in LA is important. I hope some of you will join me in this action which is honored across the U.S and the world. This is also the 2 year anniversary of SWOP-LA!
