Description: Co-presented with the UCLA Film & Television Archive: In this popular family event, organist Tom Trenney accompanies one of the great comedies of the silent film era on the magnificent Royce Hall grand organ. In his last silent film, comedian Harold Lloyd plays Harold “Speedy” Swift, a baseball crazy cabbie/soda jerk whose valiant attempt to help his sweetheart’s grandfather leads to a hilarious high-speed chase across New York City in a horse drawn trolley. “Speedy” is packed with brilliant sight gags and includes a cameo by baseball legend Babe Ruth. Shot on location in Manhattan, the film features shots of the old Yankee Stadium, Coney Island’s Luna Park, and Columbus Circle and Wall Street as they were in 1928.
