Staples Center

Los Angeles’ Staples Center is a popular sports arena located in Downtown Los Angeles and is conveniently right next to the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Staples Center has the capability of hosting a large array of indoor events. Although basketball and music concerts are a couple of the more popular events held at the Staples Center, the arena’s large capacity has made the possibilities almost endless. Depending on the event, the Staples Center Los Angeles can hold anywhere between 18,00 to 20,000 spectators.

The Staples Center houses more than just spectators. The Staples Center Los Angeles is home to the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. Until the folding of the AFL’s Los Angeles Avengers in April of 2009, the Staples Center was the home arena for five notable teams. The success and popularity of these teams may be why the Staples Center schedule is never at a loss for games and events.

The Staples Center schedule continues to boast some of the highest-profile events of national and international distinction. These include the 2000 Democratic National Convention, the 2002 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the 2002 NHL All-Star game, seven Grammy Awards shows and the 2004 NBA All-Star Game. The Staples Center schedule continues its glory in 2010 by hosting events like the Pacific Life Pac 10 Basketball Tournament and welcoming famed musical performances from Jay-Z and Black Eyed Peas.
