Andy Clockwise || Listen || Watch

Andy Clockwise might not be a household name where you live, but for me, he might as well be Bruce Springsteen. I've seen many incarnations of the Andy Band, as we call it, but his newest, tightest and most mature version is the finest. Andy is hard to describe. He's a singer-songwriter from Australia with the musical ear and skill of Jeff Lynne and the heart and soul of the Boss himself. He's a soft-spoken intellectual that puts everything he has into his music and his performance. The audience gets it, feels it and always responds.

There is nothing manufactured about Andy. You never ask yourself if you buy it because there's nothing to buy; he's not selling. He's giving himself to the audience and the rest of his band mates. Local "hired-gun" and guitar maven Joshua Norton backs him well on the bass and keys while also serving as the glue that holds the many pieces together. - Lumino Magazine

Spaceland
Since the infamous first show in March of 1995 (Beck, Possum Dixon, Lutefisk, and a then brand new band called the Foo Fighters), Spaceland has long been a mainstay in the live music community. Known for breaking new acts, this 260 capacity venue was the first club in LA to book the Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Art Brut, Bloc Party, British Sea Power, Clinic, Drive By Truckers, Editors, Jet, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, My Morning Jacket, Peaches, Satellite Party (feat. Perry Farrell), Scissor Sisters, Secret Machines, Snow Patrol, Spank Rock, The Black Keys, The Decemberists, The Faint, The Futureheads, The Gossip, The Killers, The Kills, The Presets, The Rapture, The Shins, The View, and The Walkmen, just to name a few. One of the most popular nights of the week, Mondays feature the best up and coming locals as well as touring acts. Spaceland showcases a different local resident band each month and admission is free. Some of the bands to break out of the Monday nights include Silversun Pickups, Rilo Kiley, Cold War Kids, Autolux, The Bronx, Moving Units, Giant Drag, Sea Wolf, The Little Ones, Earlimart, Midnight Movies, The 88, The Blood Arm, and 400 Blows. Every Wednesday Spaceland hosts Club NME, a spin off of the popular UK brand of dance clubs. Indie 103 and NME present the night which combines live acts with DJs spinning rock, indie, punk, electro, classic hiphop, classic house, alternative, mashups and bootlegs. Some of the bands that have played Club NME include: The Kooks, Datarock, Fujiya and Miyagi, The Cinematics, The Grates, The Young Knives, BrakesBrakesBrakes, Electric Soft Parade, White Rabbits, Pela, Gram Rabbit, Fiction Plane, Die! Die! Die!, The Lashes, and Rock Kills Kid. You never know who you might see when the ad says “special guests”. In addition to new acts, Spaceland is know as a club where established acts like to perform in an intimate setting, or just come back as a thank you to the fans, and to the club, who helped them get where they are today. Some of these underplays include Weezer, Beck, the New York Dolls, Guided By Voices, Ween, Elliott Smith, Daniel Lanois, Dinosaur Jr., Arthur Lee and Love, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The White Stripes, Spoon, Circle Jerks, Supergrass, Wire, The Breeders, Cake, Twilight Singers, and The Mars Volta. The venue features a state of the art soundsystem, improved stage and lighting system, and 2 full bars. A blue and silver curtain which wraps from the stage around to the sound booth gives the main room a David Lynch-esque feel. The back bar, decorated in a space age theme, features a pool table, couches, and a jukebox, and offers customers an opportunity to escape the live music for a bit. Spaceland is open 7 nights a week from 8:30pm – 2am. Age limit is 21+. Valet Parking is available. Phone: (323) 661-4380
