Film Night - "Guns, Germs and Steel"

NOTE: This program comes in two parts; if we want to break for discussion after the first part, we can show the second part on a subsequent Film Night. After journeying to the four corners of the world to unearth the causes of inequality and discover why Europeans where the ones to conquer the world, Professor Jared Diamond came up with a straightforward, but revolutionary explanation. Interlacing science, anthropology and historical reenactments, Dr. Diamond brings to life his intriguing hypothesis in this insightful documentary. The film puts to rest the myths that the fortune of European descended peoples are bestowed on them by divine blessing or that they are in some way better than other peoples.
