Event details: The Night Shift
Description
Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment and Vladimir Jurowski with the Roundhouse Music Collective
The Roundhouse plays host to the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s revolutionary Night Shift performances for the first time – performing classical music in a relaxed and contemporary environment. This event explores the music of Beethoven, one of classical music’s great mavericks, through his majestic Coriolan Overture and fiery Seventh Symphony.
The OAE are joined by the newly formed Roundhouse Music Collective – a group of diverse musicians aged 16-25, directed by vibesman Orphy Robinson and improviser Leon Michener – for two eclectic sets mixing electronica, alternative classical, folk and funk at 8-8.45pm and 10.15-11.30pm in the Roundhouse café.
‘The OAE has created a winner with the Night Shift - that rarest of classical music-birds: a newfangled concert format that lives up to the hype.’ The Guardian
Tickets: £7.50 - £15
After the performance the artists will join the audience in the Roundhouse café and foyers.
