Lol Coxhill
"Soprano sax maverick Coxhill is a musician who's touched on nearly every area of music over the past half century. In the '60s he jacked in his day job to accompany soul singers like Rufus Thomas. He'd sit in with bluesmen like Alexis Korner and Champion Jack Dupree. He was signed to John Peel's label Dandelion and played bebop with the likes of Bobby Wellins and Stan Tracey, prog rock with Steve Miller and Kevin Ayers, and dabbled in ska and rocksteady with Rico Rodriquez and Jazz Jamaica. In 1977 he even toured with the Damned.
Inthe last decade I've seen him play with assortedavant jazzers, drone rockers and electronic mavericks. I've seen him busking near the Thames, and seen his old LPs selling for $100 in New York record shops. And I've also heard him playing beautiful, straight versions of standards....
A true national treasure and a top geezer.' - John Lewis, Time Out
Kou Katsuyoshi
Kou Katsuyoshi is a Korean guitar player who was born in Tokyo, 1983. Kou plays guitar improvisation, although he defines himself not as a musician. He rather tries to question the notion of "music" itself through his guitar improvisation, and he mentions that his goal is to find the ideal form of sound all before the readymade notion of so-called music. He have shared stage with Sabu Toyozumi, John Russell, Toshiji Mikawa (Incapacitants, HIJO-KAIDAN), Carl Stone, and many others. http://www.katsuyoshi-kou.net/
Steve Noble
Steve Noble studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s was a member of Rip Rig and Panic, touring extensively throughout Europe and England. Since then he has worked in a variety of musical contexts but has been extensively involved in improvised music through work with a wide range of musicians. Steve Noble has regularly collaborated with Derek Bailey, Lol Coxhill, John Edwards, Alex Ward, Pat Thomas, The Bow Gamelan Ensemble (performance artist/musician Paul Burwell), with David Lester's Kino Club, and with a range of dancers and dance groups including Katie Duck and Group O, Steve Paxton, Alessandro Certini, Julian Hamilton, Kirsty Simpson, and Mal Pelo...and many more.
John Edwards
John Edwards is one of London's most in-demand, uncompromising, imaginative double bass players, and one of the most significant players of his generation.
Since taking up the double bass in 1987 and playing with the Pointy Birds and the Cholomondeleys dance company he went on to play with B Shops for the Poor, The Honkies and GOD as well as busking in the street and composing and performing music theatre with The Great Explorers. Since the early 1990s he has built a reputation as one of the finest, and most in demand bass players currently active on the British and European improv/ jazz and New music scenes- a first choice for musicians such as Evan Parker, Louis Moholo, Veryan Weston, Charles Hayward and Spring Heel Jack- Other groups include BRUISE and the Obliquity trio with Alan Wilkinson and Steve Noble and also N.E.W with Noble and Alex Ward.£6.00
