"A ZEN LIFE - D.T. Suzuki" is an award-winning 77-minute documentary about Suzuki Daisetsu Teitaro (1870-1966, prolific writer and teacher credited with introducing Zen Buddhism to the West. He practised Zen under Abbot Shaku Soen at Enkakuji Temple in Kita-Kamakura. He produced a wide range of articles in English and Japanese and wrote over 100 books, including An Introduction to Zen Buddhism.
The film as a whole intertwines and moulds together Suzukiâs personal and intellectual life, and projects images of his Zen thought through rare cuttings from his lectures and interviews. This film will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Michael Goldberg, and a roundtable discussion on Suzukiâs cultural heritage. The event will conclude with a light reception.Michael Goldberg
