Ron Meyers is one of the most influential ceramic artists living in America today. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Meyers has influenced generations of potters with his spontaneous and gestural expressionistic designs. He transforms red earthenware into functional pieces while incorporating his own sculptural approach. On the surface of his pieces, he creates a unique narrative in the form of colored slip paintings of rats, fish, bats, rabbits, chickens and more. Meyers received a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science (1956) and Master of Science (1961) degrees in art education from State University of New York at Buffalo. He has taught many classes and workshops throughout the United States and retired in 1993 as Professor Emeritus at the University of Georgia in Athens. He has been exhibited in many solo and group shows nationally and abroad. Image: Ron Meyers Tall Rabbit Vessel glazed red earthenware
