Highlights include top tips on achieving ‘Success in Sports Media’ with expert BBC Bloggers Ben Dirs and Tom Fordyce as well as a host of hot debate and insight from industry heavyweights including broadcaster and cricket-lover Barry Norman and Harry Gration’s sporting heroes with Darren Gough, Ellery Hanley and Leeds United legend Norman Hunter.
BBC 5 Live’s Fighting Talk, hosted by Colin Murray, returns for a live broadcast from the Festival and guests can also catch several all-star ‘in conversation’ events. These include ‘Geoff Hurst and The Hand of God’ with ex-referee and author Graham Poll and sports journalist and broadcaster Mick Dennis, as well as ‘Leather on Willow – a very English affair’ with author Duncan Hamilton, Barry Norman and Martin Kelner.
This year’s Carnegie Sporting Words Festival will explore the changing face of sports journalism, the history and passion behind some of the nation’s favourite sporting pastimes and will host the first ever Pongo Cricket Emerging Journalist award. Set up by Cricket’s Joe Sayers Pongo is a ground-breaking media platform for fans to contribute their own stories, blogs and reviews on the world of cricket.
