Description
During the past 100 years, from the Roaring '20s to the Big Band Era, to the advent of rock'n'roll, disco, pop, soul, funk, R&B, jazz and rap, popular music has spawned not only musical contributions but, in many cases, social influences as well. Many of these songs and recordings have created or influenced the cultural icons of our everyday life. In this course, we will study popular music and its styles, the performers, and the American history that has influenced the music.
