First LEGO League (FLL) LEGO Robotics (Lake Oswego Team with Portland Wiz Kids)

Learning is an intuitive process. Research shows that children are motivated to learn when they are rewarded emotionally and challenged sufficiently. When children actively construct things in the physical world, it helps them build new knowledge in their minds. Students in this class will join together as a single team for the 2009 First Lego League Challenge. The team, containing up to 10 students, will work together building and programming a robot using NXT Mindstorms Robotics Kit and software. During the Fall Session students will build, program, and refine autonomous robots to complete challenging missions and overcome obstacles, in preparation for the 2009/2010 competition season. During the LEGO competition season, students create ideas and learn how to approach and manage a challenging project to completion. This hands-on, brain exercising class develops life long skills in a fun environment.
