Walking Event: Quail Botanical Gardens

This route explores some very nice dirt pedestrian trails around green belts and a golf course in Encinitas. It s an easy, fairly flat walk that gives you a dose of nature while remaining in the midst of civilization. Portions of the trail go along a cliff and there are very nice views of the North County valley. The trail is mostly flat but there are two hills. The highlight of the route is Quail Botanical Gardens where you can view a bamboo garden, desert garden, citrus garden, a waterfall, a high lookout and many exotic plants. There is an entry fee to go into the garden but it is free the first Tuesday of every month. You may also skip the garden and do 9K walk. There is some shade on this route, but also quite a bit of exposure, so don t walk it in the heat of midday in summer.
