Description
Mission Bay Park is the largest man-made aquatic park in the country. It has over 4000 acres. It s separated from the Pacific by a long bar of land and has 12 miles of beaches, parks and resorts along its inner bay. It s a popular place with locals who come to walk, bike and rollerblade on the wide, level path that follows the shoreline for miles and miles. This "Mission Bay East" walk is on the east side of the bay. It's calmer than the west, with low-key beaches and parks. The 5K and 10K are out-and-back from Sea World to De Anza Cove, passing playgrounds, beaches, the visitor center and Hilton Resort Hotel. The 14K continues around the entire east bay, making a loop via a bridge that crosses the bay. The 14K includes some urban and residential streets. The 5 & 10K are rated 1 and the 14K is rated 1+ for one flight of stairs. Public restrooms and water fountains are frequent along the pathway. The 5 & 10K are ideal for wheelchairs, strollers and rollerblades, but these are not recommended on the 14K. Dogs not allowed 9am-4pm Nov 1-Mar 31; 9am-6pm Apr 1-Oct 31. At other times they are OK on leash. Wear sunscreen! After your walk enjoy a visit to Sea World or bring your suits for a refreshing dip.
