Walking Event: Aviara & Batiquitos Lagoon

The Batiquitos Lagoon Trail is part of the Carlsbad city trail program. It s a gem, and it s surrounded by more city trails in the green spaces of the Aviara neighborhood. The 5K is rated 1. It's an out-and-back on the Batiquitos Lagoon Trail. The path is soft dirt. Palm trees and water views might convince you that you re in Bora Bora. This is a fast, scenic walk perfect for a week day. The 11K route is rated 3+ and connects the Batiquitos Lagoon Trail and three of the Aviara trails into a loop. The route is about 4/5th dirt trail and 1/5th neighborhood streets. There are roller-coaster hills for the first 7K but there are easy sections breaking it up. The last 3K are flat or downhill. Great views of the sea and Carlsbad from several high spots. Carry water on the trail. Rattlesnakes possible on hot days.
